Recently, Jim Trainer and I thought it would be an interesting challenge to write guest posts for each other’s blogs. It might also be a way to introduce our audiences to each other.
Jim went first.
He prepared our readers for his upcoming post in a piece called, “Jim Trainer’s prose poem of the week: When Mama Greenberg Curses.” It appeared on both of our blogs.
I also wrote an introduction to his post, called, “Introducing a fine black Irish street fighting poet,” published on my blog on July 6, 2023.
I hope you’ve had a chance to read his actual post on my blog. It’s entitled, “The worst thing you can do is everything,” published on July 10, 2023. So far, it’s had a great reception from his readers and mine.
Now it’s time to turn the tables.
When Jim asked me to write a post for his blog, I put on my old public relations cap and gave some thought to his audience. They tend to be younger and edgier than my readers, and I decided to “take a walk on the wild side.” (Thanks, Lou Reed!)
As a result, you may find my post different from my usual writing and topics. In the old days, we might have referred to the style as “racy.”
It’s called, “The one that got away,” and it’s a true story.
I took some poetic license with the truth, and also gave a heads-up to the man I wrote about. I didn’t want him to be blindsided. He’s game, and so am I.
The post will be published on July 31, 2023 on Jim’s blog, simply called “Jim’s Substack.” (Go to: jimtrainer.substack.com)
Please give it a read and let us know your thoughts, by commenting at the end of the post. We hope you enjoy it!
